Unconventional Lapidarist Who I deal with often. I will share the piece when it is done. Anyone who knows my struggles this past year will understand why this Brazilian Rutiled Quartz has entered my life big time at this point in time - when they read this stone's Story. It was as if the effort to go into the world last week was validated - that my own journey has come full circle on so many levels. That my extremely broad foundation is not out of whack but in much better shape than I myself knew. My head does not hold jargon and new words but if someone is interested I can certainly explain all in plain english and relate it to many easily - other corners many have yet to add to their tool boxes. Rutilated Quartz and Validation

Many years ago; even before I began to work with stone - I purchased a ring from a friend (Catherine) of a friend (Maya) who worked with silver and cabachons - The stone was rutilated quartz - clear quartz festooned with thin golden rutile crystals.(Shown below)

As it was prior to my "now" love affair with stone I had not taken time to read it's story in depth. Nor did I yet know the words I often say to others that a stone chooses it's owner not vice versa.

Recently - just last weekend I went on a course with strangers to learn about "Ancestors" put on by a German Shaman and Jeweler - Maria Kaluza. During the weekend of interesting ideas and information I chose to purchase a Brazillian Rutilated Quartz ring made by Maria(shown below) - called appropriately the Sun & the Moon.

You can see the roped crystals are not delicate thin strands but bold flashing ropes. I had actually admired this type of stone earlier in the year and had decided my work was perhaps still to Rustic to do it justice.

Of course now I needed to research the stone - Got to the point of gleaning the web for a piece I could afford to make a pendant. Found just what I wanted at: ( continued next note . . .)
